The City of Roswell is launching a new citizen notification service that will deliver important and timely emergency and general information to the City’s residents using the latest technology available. The new notification service, NIXLE, will alert residents to emergency weather events, road closings, public safety advisories, natural and manmade disasters, and general city information

You may have noticed Georgia Department of Transportation workers on Old Alabama this past week. According to the publication Roswell The Current, the DOT has begun to upgrade the traffic signal equipment on Old Alabama Road. The work is being funded by the federal stimulus package and will upgrade every intersection from Riverside to Roxburgh Drive/Pine Bloom Drive (by Willow Springs), with the exception of Holcomb Bridge Road. Some of the improvements include traffic signal heads, street name signs, steel support poles, countdown pedestrian signals, traffic signal controller, sidewalks, crosswalk ramps, refuge islands and fiber optic interconnect cable.

I sincerely hope everyone's homes escaped the recent floods without damage...but it looks like the nearby Roswell Greenway was not quite so lucky. The park, built largely on the wetlands surrounding Big Creek, was temporarily shut down due to the flooding. As you can see in the photo below, the waters rose all the way to the handrails of the boardwalk! Do you have any flood stories or photos? Please share them on the Message Board!
